1953-2023 : vivez les 70 ans de ce prestigieux évènement

évènements de l'année : la Rolex Giraglia.

Créée à l'orgine en 1952 par deux italiens et un français dont le but était de d'offrir au

monde la plus prestigieuse des courses, La Giraglia a d'année en d'année tenu toutes ses promesses.

La première course en 1953 réunissait 22 bâteaux. 20 plus tard, 132 bateaux se donnaient

rendez-vous au départ de la plus grande course au large de la Méditerranée.

Aujourd'hui, c'est plus de 200 bateaux qui participent à la Giraglia Rolex Cup, au travers d'une

course et 3 jours de régates, représentant plus de 10 pays différents. (forrás!)

5 years after the first arrival of the Rolex Giraglia in Monaco (2014), on the occasion of the inauguration of the new Club House, the Yacht Club of Monaco will again host the arrival of the regatta “Queen of the Mediterranean”. Organized by the Yacht Club Italiano in collaboration with the Société Nautique de Saint Tropez, the Yacht Club Sanremo and the Yacht Club de Monaco, the 67th edition of the Rolex Giraglia off shore race will kick off on 12st June in the Gulf of Saint Tropez and will take the finish in the water of the
Principality of Monaco.

The start of the 2019 Rolex Giraglia offshore race was one of the most impressive in recent memory. Sailing under clear blue skies and a favourable, building breeze the 243-strong international fleet offered a sublime spectacle. A testing and tactical 241-nautical race lies ahead including the seminal rounding of the Giraglia rock, the virtual halfway point. For only the second time in its history, the race will finish off the Yacht Club de Monaco in Monte-Carlo. The leading contenders to be first over the line include Sir Lindsay Owen-Jones’s Wallycento Magic Carpet Cubed, a past line honours and overall winner of the event, and George David’s all-conquering 88-ft maxi Rambler. They both have the current race record of 14 hours, 56 minutes in their sights. Partnered by Rolex since 1998, the event is organised by the Yacht Club Italiano and the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez.

It naturally gravitated towards the elite world of yachting six decades ago and today supports the most prestigious clubs, races and regattas. Józsa Márton vezetésével a hatvanlábas Mini Maxi, a Wild Joe több alkalommal is részt vett már a legendás mediterrán offshore versenyen. Tegnap Saint-Tropez kikötője előtt 243 hajó rajtolt el az idei futamon, amelynek a pályája ismét változott. Az elmúlt öt évben a cél Genovánál volt, de idén Monte Carlóban lesz a befutó.

A rajt után a mezőny nyugatra Hyeres felé halad, majd egy zátony kerülése után következik a – jó esetben – hosszú rohanás a Korzika északi csücskénél lévő Giraglia-szikla felé. Itt fordul a mezőny vissza a monte carlói befutó felé. (forrás)

Andy Warhol (1928-1987)

Artist, filmmaker, and producer Andrew Warhola Jr., or simply Andy Warhol, was a founding father of the pop art movement. Frank Stella (1936–2024)

A giant of post-war abstract art, Frank Stella (1936–2024) investigated the formal and narrative possibilities of geometry and color and the boundaries between painting and objecthood. Stella was born in Malden, MA in 1936. He attended Phillips Academy Andover, where he studied painting under Patrick Morgan, and Princeton University, where he studied history and painting under Stephen Greene and Willliam Seitz. I’m a self confessed ocean and travel lover. About 9 years ago, I quit my corporate job in sales and marketing, I took the leap and chased a dream. In general, the rule for me is I gotta love the project or think others would really benefit from it if I’m going to share it here. I also run my own print/frame store @oceanfeelsco where people can have a piece of my art for their own space. So far, it’s been one of the most rewarding things I ever did. Knowing people from all over the world, enjoy my art enough to have it on their walls is just insane. I’m also looking to open a gallery in the future where people could come and visit. But more on that another day. I’m a father of 3 beautiful little girls and married to the girl of my dreams. We live in Sydney at the moment, but we love exploring new places and are in the process of changing a few things too. It’s been an absolute blast sharing my art here with you on Instagram and although social media is a wild place, it’s my hope that my work brings you a little peace. Niki de Saint Phalle (1930-2002)

“I’m following a course that was chosen for me, following a pressing need to show that a woman can work on a monumental scale.” Niki de Saint Phalle “I accidentally stumbled across Niki de Saint Phalle’s exhibition in London, back in 1985. It may have been the commonality in name that drew me in, mixed with my interest in the arts, either way, her style and colourful artworks definitely ‘wowed’ me. Now, revisiting her work and life (online), I was saddened to learn that she passed away in 2002 (aged 72). l had no idea at the time, but this would have made her around 55 when I popped into that gallery. Amusing now, how (as a mere 21 year old then) I had wrongly presumed that the person behind these modernist and intriguing works was much younger.” (Nicky Jury)
